On this third day of classes, it is the first full day of Dragon Athletics for 2018. And on this day of five sports in action we have our first final. Number 11, according to Top Drawer Soccer Fab 50 poll, Lady Dragon Soccer rolled over Central Texas powerhouse Austin Westlake by a final of 4-1.
In Day 2 of action at the NEPS, hosted at Dragon Stadium, the Lady Dragons opened the scoring with three first half goals. Madi Drenowatz opened the scoring with her 5th goal in two games. Leslie Fields then added a helper off a Drenowatz cross to make it 2-0. Then Georgie Phelps joined the scoring party for the final goal of the first stanza and it was 3-0 at half.
The Lady Dragons delivered a bit of window dressing after halftime on Leslie Fields’ 2nd of the day to make it 4-0 and for the second straight day the Lady Dragons would not allow a goal in the run of play. The only Westlake tally came off of a PK just after the second half mid-way point.
Taylor Tufts and Madi Drenowatz each had two assists on the day. LDS, 2-0, concludes the NEPS tomorrow with an early 11am kick against Amarillo High.
