Why do Carroll fans have reason to “Party like its 1999?” Because the Spring of 1999 is when Riley Dodge’s affiliation with the Carroll football program began, as a 5th grade ball boy, the foundation was laid.
For those who will point to his youthful age, 29, and say “he can’t be ready” ask the folks at Cameron You about the game they won on the “Riley special.” Coach Riley Dodge has been winning games and dialing up trick plays since he left elementary school.
Who else among the great state of Texas high school coaches can claim Riley’s rolodex? He has been preparing for this role and this week for more than half his live.
No other person has the football skill set and the understanding of Carroll’s tradition, both as a player and a prolific coach. Riley’s coaching tree includes coaching former Heisman Trophy winners and studying under the tutelage of Big X11 head coaches. His three years as Offensive Coordinators with stops at Flower Mound Marcus and Northwest have led to some of the most prolific offenses in those school’s history.
The time is now for Dodge to lead the Dragon Nation! And it is appropriate that the song quoted above is by Prince, for this prince of Carroll Football has come home to lead.
Congratulations and welcome home.
